I’m Laura, founder of Run Momma Run. Well, technically. All of us running moms created it. Your passion feeds it and it feeds me. It’s a place we can celebrate and support women who run, especially busy moms.
I’ve been running regularly for about 10 years. The reasons are many; cardio fitness, mood enhancement, leg enhancement, waist enhancement. You get the picture. Running for fitness and mental well-being are high on the list. But mostly, I run because it gets me closer to myself; closer to my inner thoughts, my fears and my joy. It also helps me shut off that crazy-self-talker-chick who can’t stop thinking about all the things she has to do everyday. When I’m running, I’m just running.
Distance running came into the picture in 2005. I wanted to do something challenging for my 40th birthday, so I decided to run the Newport, Oregon Marathon. I’ve run 3 others since, a bunch of shorter races, half marathons and now trail running and racing. I ran my first ultramarathon, the Siskiyou Outback in Southern Oregon this past summer.
When I’m not running, it’s what I like to talk about, read about, write about and otherwise surround myself with. Hence, Run Momma Run, a place where I can do all of that and share and learn from all of you. I also got tired of hanging my marathon medals on a towel rack, so I decided to create the Runner Momma Medal Rack. RMR has 3 prongs: celebrate, support and serve.
Celebrate: Our exclusive Runner Momma 5-hook marathon medal display rack to sport your race medals. No medals (yet)? No worries! It’s awesome for hats, jackets and other gear. Runner picture frames for that awesome finish-line smile, cutest-ever runner T-shirts for women, runner wind chains and our runner girl pendant necklace. And that’s just the beginning.
Serve: We foster mom-running-communities because exercise, good nutrition, being outdoors and taking care of yourself helps to build strong lives and strong children. We’re connecting with Lane Coalition for Healthy Active Youth to help prevent childhood obesity.
Oh, and let’s not forget amazing hubby! Bill is a child and family therapist. He’s funny, hot, well-read, a super-daddy and not afraid of teenagers, which is great, because I’m freaked out about those years to come.
I just sold my website development company of eleven years, Dive In Designs, and am now full-time mom and Run Momma Run lackey. The web business taught me tons about business, marketing, social media and how to help companies be their best on the web.
